Fitness, Career & Family: How This Smart Fitness Mirror is Giving Back to Busy Parents & Professionals
“You’ll always find a way to make time for your passions —” - Keith Rumjahn, CEO Kara Smart Fitness
Or at least, that’s how the saying goes. Unfortunately for fitness-loving parents and busy professionals, time for personal fitness is a luxury that few can afford.
The reality is —
Commuting to the gym after work and having to wait in line for machines…
Or attending a hard-earned spot in a constantly full yoga class…
More often than not, it means sacrificing an evening with their families.
Balancing health, home and career has become a juggling act on a razor’s edge.
How about home fitness? A time-saving solution, for sure, and it’s become a booming trend in early 2020 that saw the world work, work out and socialise at home.
But as far as colossal treadmills and online videos go, they don’t help as much as you might think:
So what can parents do to chase their fitness goals? Are home workouts doomed to fail?
Not on Keith’s watch.
After 2 years in development, entrepreneur and father Keith Rumjahn brought the KARA Smart Mirror onto the scene to challenge what home workouts can offer for busy fitness enthusiasts.
Transform your home into a versatile gym, yoga sanctuary, boxing studio and more.
In order to help busy bees achieve their fitness goals on their own time and on their own terms, the mirror’s development team, OliveX, needed to bring the gym to the living room.
The solution? Bring the coaches home.
Janice Ng, a Lululemon ambassador best known for her intense ab workouts, was among the first batch of elite coaches and celebrity trainers to film content for the KARA Mirror.
Now that people are getting a taste of what KARA can do, Janice has been busy filming content once a week for the mirror.
“It lets people work out at any time of day and, unlike watching on YouTube, there are no distractions like ads, and you can’t fast-forward the content. I also like how the mirror allows people to check and correct their form,” Ng says.
With hundreds of classes in the constantly growing library of programmes, users of the sleek full-sized mirror can directly stream high-quality video onto the mirror in crisp 4K resolution.
You’d forget that the coaches aren’t really there!
“People are becoming fitness omnivores – they want to run on a Monday, do Pilates on a Tuesday and yoga on a Wednesday, and the mirror allows you to do all those things” - Keith Rumjahn
Not only are users able to work out with their favourite coaches, but they can also pick and choose if they want to master a certain exercise type or dip into a new one.
AI-Powered: Personalised Fitness & Workouts
“How is this different from any other Youtube video?”
Before becoming the KARA Smart Mirror, the mirror was just that – a mirror. To truly set it apart, the team at OliveX infused cutting-edge AI technology to supercharge your workouts.
By analysing 17 key body points, KARA’s able to tell you how well you’ve done during an exercise and would even recommend you other programs in case you got lost in the library.
From correcting your form, tracking your growth and seeing how many calories you’ve burned —
The mirror was designed to be the one-stop-shop for everything you need to level up at home:
Personal Coach. Gym. Fitness Tracker.
“The AI will learn – the more you work out the more it knows and will give you recommendations based on how well you do” - Keith Rumjahn
If you’re concerned about the camera snooping around your home, you can rest easy.
The camera’s only used for detecting those 17 key body points for the AI to properly do its job and help you evolve —
A Community Owning Their Fitness Goals
Working Parents, Entrepreneurs, Fitness Enthusiasts, Celebrities and more - BLOWN AWAY.
The energy of a group class. The satisfaction of sweat. The feeling of achievement —
The KARA Mirror found itself helping many to smash their health goals from the comfort of home — this Christmas alone, the KARA Mirror completely sold out.
“Interactive fitness is about taking all your boring traditional machines like the bike and the treadmill and putting a screen on it with a live instructor and music. You can have the group fitness experience in your home” - Keith Rumjahn
Whether you have 5 minutes or 60, KARA is there, ready to connect you to a supportive community to help you feel fit, confident and healthy while having fun.
Lots of it:
